My Story
I'm taking part in Get Active with Team CF as my mum has Cystic Fibrosis. I can honestly say how hard this disease can be to live with and the pressure it applies to patient and family. My mum is my hero she survives every day with only 50% of her lungs and my aunty also has cystic fibrosis. So you might say this cause is very close to my heart.
Myself, and two friends Bella Holyoake and Phoebe Turner are walking the Cotswold way (102 miles) this summer. Although we are all active we have never done anything of this scale before. We plan to do it hopefully in 8 stints of 12 miles, although we won't be doing them back to back. We hope that you as family and friends will join us for a stint or two and support us in our goals. We would be thrilled if we could surpass our target of £500.
I know this past year has been hard on everyone with lock down etc, but it was extremely hard on my family as my mum is a high risk patient so we literally were doors closed for months on end. Now is the time for us all to get back out in the community and support all the amazing fund raising schemes that are going on.
COVID-19 has hit the cf community hard and has challenged them like never before. They have seen a huge demand for their services, which comes at a time when they are dealing with a substantial drop in their income due to the cancellation of the fundraising events they rely on. This has meant making really tough choices about which projects they can support, including funding ground-breaking research.
The money you donate will help them to continue their vital work to ensure a future where people with CF can live a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis.
